Mature Students' Society (MatSoC)

We provide a hub for mature students over the age of 21, to find each other and make new friends.  We have an active, friendly, student led membership.

Our values:

  • To bring together mature students across all campuses.
  • To offer a multi-activity, member run social group.
  • To offer peer support with the aim of bringing people together with shared experiences.
  • To provide a space where all mature students can access support and advice.
  • To embrace our members life commitments.  Families, partners and friends are welcome to attend most activities and events.
  • To build a community of mature students with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

We are a relaxed and friendly society and aim to offer a wide range of events with mature students in mind, whatever their age, background, commitments or level of study.  We offer a space for members to express specific issues related to being a mature student, in a safe and  supportive environment, as well as providing a place to access information useful to them.  We also provide a space to have fun, socialize and make connections across the university.  Whether you are looking to make new friends, find study partners or simply the reassurance of knowing you're not the only mature student at Chester university, please join our friendly and inclusive society.

Please note:  This year, along with many other societies, there will be a £5.00 subscription fee, payable when you join the society.  This enables us to put on a packed calendar of events.

We welcome suggestions from members who would like to host events, and offer our full support.

We have an enthusiastic and active committee, who are approachable and helpful.  Committee members are elected annually, so if you are interested in having your say in how the society is run, please put your name forward for a position.
