Chester Students’ Union is a charity, with Elected Officers who shape the work of the Union on behalf of the membership. However, the strategic operations of the Union are governed by our Trustee Board.

What does a Trustee Board do?

Our Trustee Board ensures that CSU is fulfilling its financial commitments and keeping on track with its core mission - helping improve students' lives. The Board ensures the Union is governed well and has robust mechanisms in place that account for:

  • Our strategic direction
  • Accountability to our members, and,
  • The delegation of authority

all of which feed into the daily operations of the Union.

Our Trustee Board comprises 4 Elected Officers, 3 Student Trustees and 4 External Trustees. The Student and External Trustees are appointed through recruitment and selection processes and sit on the Board on a voluntary basis. Their role is designed to support and challenge the work of the Union. This helps to ensure we're is operating democratically, financially responsibly and addressing the needs of our members.

We communicate openly and honestly with our members. Each year, we host an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we report in detail on the last 12 months of activities. If you’re interested in reading the minutes of our AGM or Board of Trustees Meetings, please see here!
