Democracy Review Tender Opportunity
Chester Students’ Union exists to ensure students love their student life.
The organisation has been through significant change and is about to enter a new strategic plan that will genuinely put all students at the heart of what we do.
We have undertaken extensive research around what students want and need from us. This research has helped us develop our priorities for the next five years. It has also identified as a priority the need to review our democracy structures. With student leadership and democracy being integral parts of a Students' Union, we wish to explore further and make necessary changes to the roles and remits of elected officer roles, both our full-time and Student Council roles.
We are now looking to conduct a tendering opportunity for a review of our democratic channels. You can read more about this opportunity and how to submit a tender proposal in the tender document that can be found here.
Closing Date for Tender Proposals: Wednesday 12th May emailed to CSU@Chester.ac.uk

What is the Board of Trustees?
The Board of Trustees is the group of people with ultimate responsibility for everything that the Students' Union does. It is responsible for the governance and financial and strategic management of the Students' Union.
In particular, the Board of Trustees has the following three roles:
To make sure that everything we do benefits the students at the University of Chester.
To ensure that the Students' Union remains financially solvent.
To ensure that the Students' Union doesn't break any laws or regulations relating to the work that we carry out.
All decisions by the Trustee Board are taken by all the Trustees, acting collectively and as a team. All Trustees have equal responsibility for the oversight of the Students' Union. Each of the Trustees has their own experiences which, collectively, help ensure that the Board of Trustees can carry out its roles.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role or need this information in another format, please contact our team at CSU@chester.ac.uk. For more information on what the Board of Trustees is and what it does, visit https://www.chestersu.com/your-su/trustees
