We have written an open letter to the Vice-Chancellor asking her to sign the Race Equality Charter and have documented the response here . This charter is a really important piece of legislation to help us make systemic change at the university so it is something we will be actively working on.

Given the current climate with the Black Lives Matter movement and systemic racism across institutions, the University must sign the Race and Equality Charter for the benefit of their staff and students. Whilst positive moves have been made with the introduction of the Race Challenge Group at the University, signing the charter allows students, staff and the Union to hold the University to account on their actions towards making systemic change in the University. An open letter allows the dialogue between students and the VC to be clear, and clear on the approach thart students wish the University to take.
