SUMMARY OF 2017/18

In the last academic year, the running club gained many new members and ran regular sessions every week. Several member of the club also entered local races, including the Chester 10k, half marathon and ultra-marathon.

In January, 2 members completed ‘RED January’, in which they ran over 170 miles over the month, and raised over £100 for the mental health charity Mind.

In taking part in races across the year, members raised money for a number of charities including Clarie House Children’s Hospice, Wales Air Ambulance, Mind and The Children’s Hospital Charity.

Every Saturday, some members take part in Chester’s parkrun event, in which runners from all over Chester and the surrounding area take part in a free, volunteer run 5km event. Last December, members of the running club took over the event by volunteering in positions including marshals, barcode scanners, time keepers, and even run director.

Members took part in, and completed, a wide variety of races, including Chester 10k, Wirral way half marathon, Chester half marathon, Wrexham half marathon, Birmingham Marathon Chester ultra-marathon and Isle of Man Parish Walk, amongst others.

PLANS FOR 2018/19

This year, we are hoping to increase our member and take part in more races and parkrun events in the area. By doing this, we also hope to raise money for our chosen charity, which this year is Claire House Children’s hospital.
