SUMMARY OF 2017/18
Freshers fair took place on the Thursday of freshers week and was successful in bringing in eager new individuals into Chester Universities Mens Rugby Union. With a successful recruitment and well engaged taster sessions we were able to retain a very good level of new students to help improve the current squad. We trained 3 times a week throughout the university period resulting in the 1st and 2nd teams finishing second in their respective leagues and the 2nd team getting to their cup final.
CHARITY & COMMUNITY
This was taken the lead by a student who unfortunately could not devote as much time as he first thought however we did take part in the community clean up and raised money through Movember for our charity. This is an element we are keen to improve and place more focus on in the upcoming year.
Two second places finishes
Good cup runs with both teams
Retaining the majority of new players
PLANS FOR 2018/19
Plans for 2018-2019 include a much more charity work-based approach through events such as Movember again and a touch rugby tournament in which all university sports can enter to raise money and enjoy. Furthermore, we wish to raise up to and above £750 for this year. With new coaching staff and better facilities at Chester Rugby Club we can hope to push to two league wins this year.
