SUMMARY OF 2017/18

From busking for Marie Curie to PJ rehearsals, performing at Christmas Light Switch on’s to holding our very own Christmas Concert - 2017-18 Had it all! We welcomed our fantastic new fresher’s to our family and soon got back into the ‘swing’ of our rehearsals, social events and performances. A particular highlight was our Christmas Concert which raised £235 for our Charity Nordoff Robins, a charity that helps people in the UK with Music Therapy. We also held many social events including regular Karaoke nights at the G&D pub, St Patrick’s day in the SU and trips to the cinema, one of which was to watch The Greatest Showman! We also really enjoyed performing our Christmas Carols when we went busking in November on the streets of Chester as we raised £70 for the fantastic charity Marie Curie and encouraged crowds that gathered around us to sing along. We are all really looking forward to welcoming our new members and can’t wait for the exciting year ahead!

CHARITY & COMMUNITY

Through volunteering to play at the University Carol Service we were able to meet several members of the community that were able to open doors for us to engage with our local community more. We have been busking in the streets of Chester playing Christmas Carols to the shoppers, opening the Christmas Light Switch on event on Garden Lane alongside other talents from around the community and many more!

TRIUMPHS

  • Hosting our fantastic Christmas Concert demonstrating our music to the University and raising £235 for our charity Nordoff Robbins - smashing the previous year’s amount raised from this event!!

  • Supporting other Sports & Societies and the SU with their charity events including The Events Society ‘Row’a’thon’ and The Drama Societies Christmas & Summer performances.

  • Expanding our community networks e.g. performing at the Garden Lane Christmas Light Switch on, the Carol Service and Busking in the streets of Chester.

  • Holding regular social events throughout the year to allow everyone to get to know each other outside of rehearsals.

PLANS FOR 2018/19

We are all really looking forward to the year ahead and aim to beat our membership target, raise more money for our great charities than last year and continue to hold regular social events to get to know everyone. We are also hoping to go into the local community more than last year including visiting the local care homes and primary school.
