SUMMARY OF 2017/18
During 2017/2018 the society discussed ways in which we could raise money for SpecialEffects, a charity that used video games and/or technology to enhance the lives of those with disabilities. We joined a 24hour live stream with another society, which meant double the amount of games during the 24 hour period, along side pizza and games outside of video games. We raised £225 which was more than our target, along side that we made it onto the front page of Twitch (a streaming site for gamers) and had the SpecialEffects team message us.
CHARITY & COMMUNITY
Esports chose SpecialEffects for our charity and raised over £200 during a 24hr live stream.
PLANS FOR 2018/19
For 2018-19, we plan to hold more charity events, alongside the possibility of more than one 24hour stream, we also plan to raise money within our society itself by holding small gaming events in which whilst you are gaming, if you die over a certain amount of times in one game, you put a certain amount of money into a lot. As well as participating in the GameBlast event next year. All the money raised will go towards SpecialEffects, our goal for this year is £500.
