SUMMARY OF 2017/18

In 2017/18, we had two amazing crowd-pleasing shows and rose over an outstanding £2,500 for charity! Our main contributions to charity donations was a 12 hour dance-a-thon for Children In Need, the December show ‘Drama does Disney’ for Great Ormond Street Hospital and CODA UK & Ireland, and our final show ‘Sister Act’ for Macmillian Cancer Support and Chester Woman’s Aid. We ended the year with our own entertaining awards night for the members and winning Most Improved Society from the Student’s Union Society.

We raised over £2,500 for Children In Need, Great Ormond Street Hospital, CODA UK & Ireland, Chester Woman’s Aid and Macmillan Cancer Support. This was achieved through many events, 12 Dance-a-thon, Santa Dash and our two performances in December; ‘Drama Does Disney’, and in March; ‘Sister Act’.

Throughout the year we showed our support to Theatre Society and Kingsway Players by bringing members to their performances and we also took part in the community clean up with the Students Union.

Our biggest triumph from last year was the amount of that we raised for as it surpassed the £1,000 target set at the beginning of the year. Having shows that the audience enjoyed up until they walked throughout was a great triumph as well as having a bigger turn out to the performances than last year did is amazing as well. We also won Most Improved Society at the Society Awards, which was a statement of how hard we worked throughout the year.

PLANS FOR 2018/19

The committee cannot wait for next year! Planning is very ahead of schedule. We wish to keep the high standard of charity work from the previous year. Also we wish to create a stress-free, loving and homely environment for our members so they have the luxury of going to a place where they can forget about the troubles of the outside world and have fun for their time in sessions. We shall be holding two major performances in December and in March along with several charity events and cross-society events. We will see the return of the successful ‘Drama Soscars’, an awards night for our members.
