SUMMARY OF 2017/18
Provide of a range of diverse educational talks to support the academic curriculum, with certificates of attendance to enhance student portfolios.
Establish a support network between nursing cohorts to share ideas and experiences.
Improve engagement with the Students Union to involve Leighton student nurses, and the provision of a visiting Student Union shop.
Improve the facilities available to students choosing to study at the Leighton campus.
Expand student learning and experience by arranging trips and social events.
Engage with local groups and organisations to improve links with local community and participate in public events, such as Stroke Awareness Day.
Promote a positive image of nursing as a career choice by supporting University activities with visiting schools and colleges to the site.

CHARITY & COMMUNITY
Monthly talks have also been open to non-member students and qualified staff for a small fee, which has been donated to a local charity linked to the talk theme. In total £75 was raised.
The society also supported a local stroke awareness day.
Since October’17, a diverse range of monthly talks have been arranged for society members to enhance the academic nursing program. Attendees have also received a certificate of attendance for their portfolio.
In addition, the society has arranged for the Student Union to visit the Leighton site with a pop-up shop.
March’18 saw the society recognised at the Warrington Student Union Awards, where the society was presented with two awards: The Society of the Year and Society Persons of the Year award to the President (Rachel Hodges) and Communications Officer (Yasmin Woodward).
PLANS FOR 2018/19
For 2018/19 we plan to continue to hold monthly society talks, to hold charity events for our chosen charity for the year and include some social events.
