About Our Group


Name of society – University of Chester Debating Society


What is the society about?  Debating current as well as historical issues as well as making friends. The society itself is akin to a family and the more members the better! 



Our values are:


To debate in a respectful manor taking time to consider all viewpoints

To develop friendships and to act as a political social hub

To ensure that all new members feel a welcome part of the debating family

Finally, to have a relaxing break from university work



Key Information (When, Where and How Often We Meet)

Meet every Thursday in Westminster (Parkgate Road Campus) at 7:30pm unless specified otherwise. Every Monday the following Thursday’s debate motion is posted on the Debating Society social media. 


Events and activities, we are organising this year:

Christmas meal (December),

weekly socials (year long),

end of year charity event such as a climb up Snowden. 

Freshers taster sessions and welcome events – September/ October 2020

Christmas Night Out – December 2020

Film screening – February 2021

End of year Ball – June 2020
