Registering with a GP

It's really important you look after yourself and register with a doctor as soon as you arrive at the University.  It is easy to register and means that you can access medical care when you need it. Do not wait until you are ill.
There is plenty of Doctors to choose from in the City of Chester. Garden lane Medical centre is a 5 minute walk from the main campus, fountains health, which is opposite Sumner house, houses 4 Doctors surgery’s. http://www.gardenlanemedicalcentre.co.uk/page1.aspx?p=13

Fountains Health:
When living on the Warrington campus, the doctors surgery you will need to register for is Padgate Medical centre. This is based on Station road, very close to Padgate rail station. To register, either fill out the form given out during induction week and hand it in to the surgery, or drop into the surgery and ask for a registration form. You can call the surgery at 8am for on the day appointments on 01925815333. http://www.fountainsmedicalpractice.co.uk/Home

International students:
If you are an international student following a course lasting 6 months or more, you are eligible to obtain free healthcare from the NHS.
If you are an international student on a course lasting less than 6 months your entitlement will depend on whether your course is substantially funded by the UK Government. It will also depend on whether you come from a country where the UK has a reciprocal health care agreement with.
