Welcome to the homepage for the University of Chester's Yoga society!
We meet weekly to stretch, strengthen and relax, doing our bodies and minds a world of goodness.
Our classes are great for beginners who have never tried yoga before, so don't be afraid to come along and give it a go! We also have a fantastic teacher who has great experience and is able to teach more advanced classes for those who have already mastered a few poses. We have over 100 members to date, and are one of the fastest growing societies with a beautiful community. We get together regularly for tea and to hold a variety of events, raising money for different charities.
Apart from being a great way to gain strength and flexibility, yoga is a perfect way to escape the stress of uni life, which everyone will experience at some point! So grab a mat and come and join us to experience the best of yoga and most importantly have some fun!
Yoga had a great year last year, gaining over 100 members and increasing our overall attendance to classes. We also held our very first SU Friday and doubled our amount of socials and events, raising just over £114 for charity! We also partnered with the University of Chester, holding classes for the wellness fair and also during their month of well-being which was a great success. We are so proud to support events such as these, helping to spread awareness about the importance of physical and mental well-being. We also took part in the amazing 'This Girl Can' campaign, joining people all over the UK to support women in sports.
This year we hope to hit our membership target again and keep pushing attendance. One of our main priorities is to raise more money for our chosen charities by holding some amazing events and encouraging everyone to join in! The Yoga society has grown so much over the last three years, and we have no doubt it will continue to be amazing this year, with all of your amazing support.
Students can benefit in so many ways by joining the Yoga society. Being a non-competitive sport means anyone can join and not feel out of their depth. We have members at all different levels and allow everyone to develop at their own pace. We have a lovely, friendly community who get together regularly and take part in all sorts of charity events, which you can also help with and gain volunteering hours towards your degree! Also yoga is a great way to keep in shape and at the same time take some time out for yourself to relax.
If all these reasons haven't already convinced you, you should also know our membership is just £10 for the whole year! With your membership you will be able to come to weekly classes, classes with guest teachers, trips and all of the socials and events we hold!
