Welcome to the University of Chester Equestrian Club!

Who we are:

  • We're a friendly bunch who love welcoming & meeting newbies! Our number one priority is that you are have the best experience at university.
  • We provide weekly riding lessons for all abilities, from first timers to seasoned pros who can regularly compete!
  • We have both Championship & Trophy League BUCS teams, and two development teams, which compete in student-organised leagues.
  • We will be holding trials at the beginning of the year, so if you're interested in competing then you’re more than welcome to email us at uocequestrian@gmail.com with your experience to date and some pictures!

But it doesn't stop there! We also organise competitions within the club, to include all levels who wouldn't usually compete. This year we had a small dressage round and  jumping course. We also organise an endless variety of socials and sober activities; so there is something for everyone, whilst making life-long pony friends!

Competitions & Achievements:

Last year saw a countless number of achievements for our amazing club!

  • At sports presentation at the end of the year we came 5th in “Club of the Year”, this year we’re looking to win it.
  • Our championship team came 2nd in the Mini League.
  • B Team came 1st in their Mini League which qualified them to compete at Regionals. At Regionals the team came in 3rd, with incredible performances from last year's fresher Kate Williams - who individually placed 1st - and veteran Gemma Penhorwood placing 8th.
  • C Team came 2nd in the Mini League, with individual places 1st for Kate, 2nd for Emily and 4th for Abi. This meant they qualified for regionals individually, where they were placed 2nd & 3rd.
  • Our Development Team came 2nd in their Mini League, with Laura achieving 3rd place, Nia 4th and Helen 5th. Qualifying for Regionals, where they came 3rd as a team, 3rd year Helen individually coming 7th.

Volunteering:

As well as our lessons and competitions, we volunteer at our chosen charity; Horse Sense - a local horse shelter 15 mins from Campus. This year we completed 300 volunteer hours at Horse sense & re-homed 4 horses winning us the 'Sport in the Community Award' for our volunteering efforts.

Next year we will be prioritising fundraising, to reach our target of £750, and to keep our volunteer hours at 300 and continue to re-home horses. So far we have already re-homed 2 horses and acquired 150 volunteering hours!
