We like to play a mixture of music; from film scores to classical movements, popular television themes to well-known songs, all with the aim to not only have fun but to bring the joy of music to the public. Together we are so much more than a random selection of people from different backgrounds, we are a group joined by music but united by friendship.
Our goal is to challenge ourselves, support our charities, explore the world of music and develop friendships, all whilst having a great time!
We rehearse on a Sunday evening (5-7pm) in Molloy 006 every week alongside additional meet ups and social events throughout the week. We also have many events and performances throughout the year which we work towards in our rehearsals, making all of our hard work pay off.
This society is more than just an orchestra, we’re a family! We welcome newcomers with open arms as we are a group of students with one thing in common: we all love music! Whether you've reached Grade 8 in your instrument or simply just beginning your musical journey, everyone is welcome to join. Even if you don't play an instrument and just fancy coming along to the rehearsals to listen or to join in with our social events, we would love you to join!!
For any further information please feel free to contact us via our Facebook page – we look forward to meeting you!
A NOTEworthy Society!
"I started orchestra in 2014, in the second year of the society. I’ve loved watching it grow from strength to strength from then and was lucky enough to be a committee member last year. Joining orchestra was the cherry on the top of my time at university and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made, gaining friends for life. I cannot recommend orchestra enough; playing a wide range of music, raising money for charity, enjoying social outings, both musical and other and making friends for life. What more could you ask for?!" - Jo Rogers
