The society operates for a number of reasons on and off campus, bringing together students identifying as LGBT+ and those that don’t through organised LGBT+ specific and non-specific events such as discussion groups, support meetings, socials, fundraisers, campaigns and trips out.As well as ensuring the respect and representation of LGBT+ student on and off campus by raising awareness.Typical events include; bowling, arts and crafts, games nights, quiz nights, book clubs, bingo trips and LGBT+ focused movie nights.
The LGBT+ Society had a successful 2016/17! We walked in the Chester Pride Parade, worked with the SU and their "No Phobia" week which ended with a Drag Race hosted by our society with performances from other sports and societies from the uni. This was in aid of raising money for our chosen charity for this year. Our hard work this year was rewarded at the Society Awards when we won the "Members Choice Award." In 2017/18, we aim to continue working to provide safe and welcoming spaces for our society members. We would like to build more links with the other sports and societies on all university campuses as many of our members are also members of other groups. We aim to build on the success of the the Drag Race and make it bigger and better than last years event. We will continue to fundraise for a chosen charity.
