Rowing

Athletes row, everyone else plays games.

Welcome to the homepage for the University of Chester Rowing club.

Athletes row. Everyone else plays games.

Rowing is a sport that appeals to people of all ages and abilities. We are a club that offers flexible ways to take part, from social rowing to competing with the best. If you’ve rowed before and want to get back in a boat, or have enjoyed watching rowing and are feeling inspired to give it a go… JOIN UOCRC!

We are a club with great team spirit looking to gain more members to add to our ‘ rowing family’ this year. Everyone is welcome to join us. With the club competing over 15 races within a year, there are plenty of opportunities to race right form the get go (including some of the biggest sporting events in the world, such as Head of the River and Henley Royal Regatta).
We are also fortunate to have one of the best rivers in the country to row on, The River Dee, where most of our training takes place.

We are one of the Universities largest sports clubs, and are one of few that is mixed gendered. We pride ourselves on all the hard work as individuals and crews put into the success of the club.

Below are just a few events and accolades from the past year with uocrc:

June 2015 – We took a Men and Women Senior 4 to Henley. Which is undoubtedly the best known regatta in the world. On the road to Women’s Henley again this year with the senior women’s 8 (made up with 4 novices) with high ambitions!

This year we had many novice crews racing form the start of the year, developing technique and becoming great rowers, competing in Women’s and Men’s Head of the river on the Thames only months after learning to row.

March 2016 – WeHORR: The Senior Women’s 8 jumping 70 places(fastest Uni of chester womens crew ever) from the year before and coming top 150 crews against some of the best. (e.g olympians/oxford/cambridge).

April 2016 – We took 30 of us to Dorney Lake for a 3 day training camp. This was the venue for the 2012 Olympics. It was a hard yet fun and inspiring weekend. An experience not to be missed.

May 2016 – BUCS Regatta, Europes largest university regatta. Takes place on the national water sports centre and is a cracking racing fuelled Bank holiday with a free camping trip away with all crews.

June 2016 – Novice Women’s 4 and Men’s senior 4 raced at Trentham regatta, both winners in there category, earning a point. Undefeated success rate at Trentham Regatta. Smiles all around.

With more than 15 races attended per year we aren’t a club short of competition. Travelling up and down the country with your best mates, racing and doing what you love. Well it doesn’t get much better.

We have so many plans, dreams and goals for the upcoming year with UOCRC. Don’t miss out on making your uni experience even better!
