MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

University of Chester MMA Club

What is MMA?

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete. Bouts can either be fought in a boxing ring or a caged arena (It is NOT cagefighting) There are strict rules to follow as well as a professional referee in the ring at all times as well as 3 judges that score the bout just like in boxing.

We’ve set up this club for anyone who is interested in MMA and would like to have a go, whether you’re a pro or never even had a go, come down and give it a try. This is also a great tool for self defence as pretty much all the techniques can be used in an everyday environment. If nothing else the fitness side of it is awesome and you’ll definitely notice the gains.

We’re trying to run this club so it caters for everyone’s needs so if you are interested in competing sometime in the future or just for some fun and help you to get fit just let us know and we’ll do our best to help you achieve your goals.

People should join this club if you are wanting to make friends, have fun or compete for one of the most prestigious and successful clubs at the university.
