Literature

Welcome to the University of Chester’s Literature Society, known as Litsoc.

“Books are cool”

We are a society for any and all students who enjoy any form of books, reading or literature and are interested in meeting other people who do the same. We welcome people from all courses and who read any type of book. Our weekly meetings are based around a specific literary theme or author such as gothic, science fiction or Jane Austen and often feature activities such as a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party or a murder mystery night. We also have regular socials and trips. In short, we are a society for everyone who enjoys a good book.

We were a small society this year, smaller than the previous year, so one of our goals is to raise membership and the amount of people involved with the society. We would like to reach out to the university more, raise our presence in the university and organise more trips, events or charity fundraising than in previous years.

Because although we are a small society, we have a strong bond between members through our shared interest, we are very friendly and welcoming and will accept members of any course or background who enjoys any type of literature. We create evenings that are both fun and relaxing and aim to do more within the university this year meaning that we are a great way to get involved in university life.
