So you think you're ready for Uni! Yeah, sure? You have packed everything haven't you? There are obviously your essential clothes, toiletries etc but here are a few things that you may have forgotten...
Some things you might forget...
Documents
- All your Uni paperwork like acceptance letter, fees and loan information
- Passport photos for CSU cards and Uni information
- Passport
- Driving licence (or provisional for those who choose to walk)
- Any other form of ID
You may need to sleep so remember
- Bed sheets
- Pillows and cases
- Duvet and cover
- Minor bedding accessories that some like to have
- Favourite teddy bear - you've all got one!
Try and bring 2 sets if you can, and don't forget to change them once in a while!
Clothes
- Lads - at least 1 smart shirt and a pair of shoes - could be handy on a date
- Rain coat, it can rain quite a bit here to be prepared and don't forget...
... an Umbrella too.
- Flip-flops
- Dressing-gown
- Sports gear - you will need these for the taster sessions, so don't forget your shin pads, boots, hockey stick, gum shield, etc etc
- Fancy Dress - have a look and see what is planned for freshers' week nights out. Beach parties, army nights and school discos are common themes.
Kitchen stuff
In self catering and halls ...
- Glasses and mugs
- Plates and bowls
- Cutlery
- Washing up powder/tablets
- Stain remover
- Air freshener
- Bottle opener, you'll be the envy of all your friends and make some new ones
- Mini fridge
- Kettle
In self catering...
- Pots and pans, wok, frying pan
- Chopping board
- Spatula and wooden spoon
- Washing up liquid
Sponges/ wiping cloths/tea towels
Cheese grater
- Tin opener - despite some attempts at ring-pull action you will need one
- Mini Freezer - This will save you money
Health
- Health information to help you sign up to the local doctors/dentist
- Don't forget your regular medications including inhalers and allergy tablets!!
- Obviously bring your hangover cures
- Contact solution and glasses case
- Ladies products!
- Condoms - although CSU give out free ones.
Electricals you may want to take:
- Hair Straighteners / Curlers / Hair dryer
- Desk top lamp
- Side lamp
- Stereo
- MP3 player/Ipod
- Laptop/PC
*Check that items are allowed within your accommodation as subject to contract agreements. You may also wish to have items PAT tested.
Things to help you study:
- Previous notes, books, notes, website addresses
- Folders
- Diary
- Things to make you feel cosy and comfortable
- Photos
- Pictures drawn by loved ones (Awww)
- DVDs, Books, Magazines
Things that will keep you on the right side of the law:
- Contents insurance - essential
- TV licence - essential
