CSU Presentation 2010

For the first time in its history, University of Chester Presentation evening took place at the superb Crowne Plaza hotel in the city centre of Chester. The evening was a well attended event with the majority of clubs and societies well represented. The evenings special guest was Dr Dorothy Marris who commented on the fantastic year in the students' union for not only clubs and societies but the progress the whole organisation has made over the last 12 months. The girls in there cocktail dresses and the gents in suits really represented the city of chester well and there behaviour was impecable.
The awards themselves were hotly contested with so many of the clubs and socities succesful in 2010. Club of the year was retained by the Univeristies Rowing team and Society of the year went to Cheerleading for the 2nd time in 2 years. Best new club and society was won by clear favourites athletics and the team of the year award for outstanding performance went to Mens Basketball with there victory in the national cup. The special recognition award for 2010 was awarded to netball 1st team for reaching a national final and being runners up of their league.

Individual Awards included Phil Brandreth taking Sports Person of the Year 2010 for outstanding contribution to the basketball team, Female Sports Personality of the Year was won by Maedhbh Westwood and Dave Wallis took Male Sports Personality. Laura Hampson, Tom Riley, Anna Blackstone, Emma Chandler, Alex Layte, Lauren Dingley, Siobhan Gibbons, Bex Wakely, Becky Dew and Lucy O'Callaghan were also recognised for their hard work through the year.




We look forward to another succesful 12 months in clubs and societies at chester and hope the presentation evening next year will be as good as it was this year.
