Drama

Welcome to the homepage for University of Chester’s Drama Society.

“We are the Drama Soc, the mighty, MIGHTY Drama Soc!”

This year we will be performing a variety show at Christmas and a Spring musical just before we break up for Easter.

We meet weekly for rehearsals in order for us to produce some tip top shows for the public to enjoy.

We are a passionate and creative team to create and direct shows for us and for you guys joining to enjoy!

During 2015 and 2016 we put on two incredible shows that couldn’t have been more different.

Our committee created, wrote, and directed a modernised version of the classic Christmas story of baby Jesus being born and called it SaviourLad. Where Mary and Joseph needed to make a brand new cocktail in order to stop Ethan Wade from banning the ‘Lad’ cocktails all together. Mary and Joseph did it! And it was a happy Christmas for students all across campus!

Then spring time rolled around and it was time to put on one of the most challenging musicals of all time, Rock of Ages! Which follows the lives of Sherrie and Drew trying to make their dreams come true in LA along The Sunset Strip. Having some incredible opportunities that shape and change who they are, they both eventually realise what they really want is one another. In the end, everyone finds their true destiny and is reminded that “sometimes the dreams you come in with, may not be the dreams you leave with”.

Both shows were bursting with talent and passion from the individuals taking part as well as the committee directing both shows. Both shows did extremely well and the audiences watching couldn’t believe how incredible the cast and committee were to have put these shows on in a short amount of time.

If you want to be apart of a fun, friendly, and frankly insane society, then join Drama Society! Not only do we put on shows, we also give you the opportunity to do things you never thought you would at university. Whether it’s belting out your favourite musical tunes, showing off your best dance moves, or expressing yourself through different roles. We do it all!!! And even if you feel like those areas aren’t your cup of tea, it doesn’t matter. Here at Drama Society you can build up your confidence, make new friends, and overall just have fun!

Drama Society, we’re a family first, and a performance second.

We hope to see you in 2016 and 2017!
